SVVY in Rome
We’re learning, and we’re growing.
Last weekend, some of us from SVVY had the privilege of attending the Jubilee of the World of Education in Rome.
We joined an inspiring conference on Educating for Hope in a Time of Fragility, which is a theme that resonates with our mission at SVVY: bridging the global gap by connecting vacant seats in Western universities with students from the Global South.
The conference introduced several forward-looking initiatives, including the First Seven Goals of the Global Compact on Education. The first goal Putting the person at the center, aligns with our ambition to contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable education system.
At one point we also listened to Jon Fosse in conversation with Isabel Capeloa Gil. This was a fun moment for us Norwegians, and an interesting conversation about the meaning of education.
We also had the unique opportunity to join a Mass with Pope Leo on Friday, a special experience for all of us.
During our days in Rome, we met great people and representatives from CEAP – Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines, with whom we signed a beneficiary agreement. This marks the beginning of an exciting collaboration where we look forward to learning from each other.
We return from Rome energized, inspired, and motivated for the journey ahead.
SVVY is developing fast, and this is only the beginning.
